Hitlock B is a joint surface treatment agent applied to the joint surfaces of high-strength bolt connections in construction structures, promoting rust formation and stabilizing the rust that occurs.
Currently, the joining of high-strength bolts is specified in the JASS-6 standard specifications for construction work and steel frame construction policies, which require the removal of mill scale from the joint surfaces and confirmation of red rust formation.
Typically, such rust formation occurs when steel materials with the mill scale removed are left outdoors for an extended period; however, with the dramatically shortened construction periods in civil engineering and building sectors, the occurrence of rust is often influenced by geographical or meteorological conditions, frequently leading to extensions of construction timelines.
For this reason, treatment agents that artificially promote rust generation are used, but depending on the type and application method of the treatment agent, there may be insufficient rust formation, excessive rust generation, or concerns about ongoing corrosion even after tightening, leaving practical issues unresolved.
Hitlock B ensures that rust formation is reliably observed within a few hours of application to the joint surface, and the generated rust is stabilized, eliminating the risk of excessive corrosion progression.
